Ugly Softwood Firewood Logs – Free Delivery in York

We care about how well a log burns, not how pretty they look.

• Looking for dry, easy to order firewood?
• Prefer to be burning wood, grown, cut and dried in York?
• Couldn't care less if they aren't all stock image perfect?
• Live in York and love free delivery?

Ted's Logs has you covered.

There's a good chance our logs aren't for you.

They're occasionally an odd shape, chunky, small, discoloured or just a little bit ugly.

We love them for that, not just because they have a little character but because they burn brilliantly.

Each bag is hand loaded (yes every single log) as a final check for dryness, sourced responsibly from York and produced by people who care. I can share with you the species in each bag and in a lot of cases the exact trees they've come from.

If you want pretty Instagram ready logs we can't help you - but Dave can.

However if you want logs that burn hot, look funky and come with excellent customer service. Read on.

Our bulk bag of barn dried softwood logs come delivered to your door (at no extra cost), ready to go right on the fire. All for just £80, with no hidden costs.

Premium Softwood Mix: Each bag has a mix of Softwoods, like Cedar, Cypress, Pine, Willow, Lime, Poplar etc. To ensure quality we hand fill every bag we send out, purposefully giving you a mix of log lengths and thickness that still comfortably fit in your average burner.

The goal is to give you complete control of your fire. Small pieces for when the fires just getting going and bigger pieces for when it's roaring.

If you're lucky enough to have a monster stove or open fire. Let me know when you order and we’ll throw more chunky ones in.

The life of our Logs

All of our wood comes from the gardens, woodlands and parks of York and the surrounding areas. From trees which have outgrown their space. We then collect it from the arborists and bring it to our yard on the outskirts of York.

Barn-Dried & Ready to Burn:

There we cut them to size, split them and stack them in great big metal crates. Then we leave them. Naturally letting the sun and wind do all the hardwork. 6-10 months later species depending we bring them into the barn for the final drying.

Convenient Bulk Bag:

Once you place your order, we jump in to action and load up your order. Every log gets placed in 0.6m³ bulk bag (roughly 7 wheelbarrows full) by hand, making sure your bag is full of dry ugly logs and not sawdust and loose bark.

We randomly check 4 logs per bag with a moisture meter and clack test (hitting two logs together and listening to the tone) every one that goes in.

Free & Fast Delivery:

There's nothing worse than finding the log store empty on a cold night. So we aim to get your order out to you as quickly as possible. That's typically one to five business days but we always aim to get it out as soon as possible.

Delivery Information:

• Free Local Delivery in York: We deliver for free to all customers in the York area (no hidden fees). Orders are usually fulfilled within 1-5 days.

• Bulk Bag Drop-Off: Your logs will be delivered in a large bulk bag (approx. 0.6m³) and placed at your property wherever our truck can safely access (e.g. driveway or front yard).

• Storage Advice: For best results, transfer the logs to your wood store or shed after delivery. The bulk bag is not meant for long-term outdoor storage, so moving the logs under cover will keep your firewood in top condition.
